About Randall A. Kins, Esq
Randall A. Kins is an attorney and the founder of Kins Law Firm, L.L.C. Mr. Kins handles criminal defense and general litigation matters, serving clients throughout the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Mr. Kins helps clients face a wide range of issues in criminal law, including assault, battery, criminal domestic violence, drug and alcohol violations, DUI/DWI, expungement, false accusations, juvenile justice, motor vehicle offenses, restraining orders, tax crimes, theft, traffic violations, and more. He is familiar with all steps of the criminal process in both felony and misdemeanor cases.
Mr. Kins has been included in the “top 40 under 40” by the National Trial Lawyers and the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys also named him one of the 10 best attorneys under 40. He has been recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America since 2022, and named a Rising Star by Minnesota Super Lawyers until 2025, when he was named a Super Lawyer in his first year of eligibility. Kins is active in professional organizations including the Dakota County Bar Association, the Ramsey County Bar Association, the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Involved in many leadership roles, Mr. Kins currently serves on the board of the Minnesota State Bar Association - First District. He was elected by his peers to serve as Secretary/Treasurer of that organization in 2020, Vice-President in 2021, and as President in 2022/2023. He remains a board member of that organization.
Mr. Kins volunteers his time through Criminal Defense Services, Incorporated, as a misdemeanor and felony panel attorney to underserved populations. He is also a volunteer attorney for Legal Assistance of Dakota County, Ltd. and a volunteer mentor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law. Mr. Kins was recently unanimously approved by the Dakota County Board of Commissioners for a second term on the Dakota County Personnel Board of Appeals through 2025 in a position which addresses employment disputes within the county.
Mr. Kins earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota and received his law degree from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. He holds licenses to practice in Minnesota and Wisconsin and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
